Everything You Should Pack On a TROPICAL GETAWAY

There’s truly no better time to escape to the tropics than in January. After all the holiday festivities are over, you get to go on a well-deserved vacation, roasting under the sun with a very good book in hand. Every year around this time, I make it a point to leave gloomy NYC and inject my skin with a boost of sunshine. Lucky for me, my parents moved to Hawaii a few years ago, making this annual escape-the-cold venture a much easier task. It’s also allowed me to learn a thing or two about proper vacation packing. As I gear up to fly out in a week, I’m already mentally creating a checklist of all the things I need to bring. And then I realized — why do it mentally when I could write it down and share it here, with you? I’m sure there’s a number of you escaping the cold right about now as well, so we may as well pack virtually together, and help each other to not forget all the vacation essentials. With this list, we’re guaranteed to have a spectacular tropical getaway, not needing to worry about a thing left behind. So without further ado, here’s everything to pack on a tropical getaway.

Maybe wherever you’re going will provide beach towels, but if you’re considering taking cute pics, then may I recommend this one from Anine Bing.

By cute tops I mean multi-purpose tops. You want something you can wear to the beach, the bar, and into town, just like this one.

This may just be me, but I always make a point to go play tennis or do something active while on vacation. But even if you’re not doing the same, a white tennis skirt serves as a great cover up for bikini bottoms!

Keep the sun out of your face in a fashionable manner with this straw hat. It covers more of your face than a baseball hat would and it doesn’t mess up your hair in the same way!

You’ll want a stunning vacation dress you can wear while sight seeing or going out for dinner.

You’ll definitely want a button down that serves as a cover up as well. I never go to the beach without one!

Naturally, a bikini or two are necessary. I adore Quatre Swim for their sleek and minimalist designs and can personally speak to their superior quality.

You’re going to want a stylish beach tote as well! Take this straw bag from DeMellier, which is just big enough to fit a towel, sunscreen, and a change of clothes (and some snacks).

You can’t forget your sunnies! Make sure you don’t blind yourself in the tropics.

We’re obviously not going anywhere without sunscreen! I adore this Supergoop option because it feels incredibly lightweight on the body.

Aloe vera gel is vital for post-sun care. If your skin is being exposed to the sun all day, make sure to treat it with aloe vera right after.
