Leather Jackets Are Back As Spring’s Best Outerwear

I had this gorgeous fitted leather jacket back in college. That is, until someone threw up on it at a frat party. I never saw that leather jacket (or stepped into a frat party) again, but I haven’t stopped thinking about it. I’ve bought plenty of leather jackets since, both faux and real, yet none that looked like the one I had in my youth. It still lives rent-free in my brain, so much so that I’ve decided it’s about time I try to replace it. It’s a good thing leather jackets are trending again, and I don’t just mean any style. Where suede was the it-texture all throughout 2024, we’re seeing a return of sleek, smooth, and all-black jackets again. And instead of big, overszied, bomber-esque jackets, the feminine form is making a return with its fitted aesthetic.

Perhaps that’s why I’ve been thinking about that one soiled leather jacket so much lately. It was the perfect minimalist jacket that accentuated my waist. It didn’t have all those silver zippers and accents that so many jackets at the time had. The all-black canvas was easy to style and elevated just about any outfit, even the sweatpants I wore so frequently. Now, in an attempt to find a chic replacement, I’ve collected my best finds below.
