Tried & True: The Best Skincare PRODUCTS I’VE TESTED

I’m not a ten step skincare girlie. I’m an introduce-one-product-at-a-time and see if I like it kind of girl. And so I spend the next six months to a year finding which skincare items mesh well together in a four-to-six piece combo. It’s a bit of a long and slow process, but I find this little research process beneficial. I make sure to go through each item until the bottle is empty and give them a real shot at making a difference in my skin. As a beauty writer, I’m lucky to have access to a ton of trendy skincare products and therefore get to really get my hands dirty in exploring all that the skincare world has to offer. Some came with grandiose claims but didn’t deliver, and others boasted similar promises and actually proved themselves to be trustworthy.

My skincare journey has been an interesting one. When I was younger, I was very skeptical that creams and serums could actually “smooth out fine lines” or “brighten your complexion”. It’s all marketing lingo, I thought. Turns out, you really can get impressive differences on your face with the right products. I think my skin looks much better now than it did at 24 (I’m 29 now), and it’s all thanks to a handful of tried and true product. Follow this simple morning and night skincare routine for optimal glow and smoothness!

Morning Routine

Babor Soothing Rose Toner

I love a good rose toner, and while there’s nothing wrong with the Mario Badescu one, I found this option much more luxurious. I love starting the day with a clean slate and a gentle smell of roses on my face.

I’ve gushed about this product over and over again, but it really is just that good. It’s slightly pricier, but it does wonders for fine lines and creating that smooth, glass-like skin texture. Bonus points for smelling super fresh and being a sustainable brand!

The combination of this moisturizer and the Caudalie serum is insane. My skin immediately gets tight and smooth while looking beautifully hydrated. It has SPF30 built into it as well, so the cream is slightly viscous and has that sunscreen smell to it.

Evening Routine

Japanese skincare simply never disappoints. I cleanse my skin only once at night to get the day’s grime off. I’ve been told that you shouldn’t cleanse both in the morning and night as it can overstrip your skin. I’m biased, but the Japanese smell of this cleanser simply feels nostalgic and I love it for that reason.

Olay impresses me over and over again with their incredible products. While I think there’s room for improvement where packaging is concerned, there’s no denying that the creams speak for themselves. I love the smell of this super serum, packed with niacinamide, vitamin C, collagen peptide, and vitamin E. It really helps brighten your complexion and make it glow with health.

I finish my night with another Olay product. I have tested tons of moisturizers through the years and none have knocked this one off its number 1 position. It smells great, it’s not too viscous, and it actually helps smooth out fine lines.
