Business Girls Rejoice: The Pencil Skirt is Back

When I was younger I had this image that one day, I would be a cool business girl, wearing pencil skirts to my big NYC job. But by the time I scored my downtown Manhattan internship in 2015, pencil skirts were no longer what it-girls were sporting. They reeked of stuffy 90s office culture, and this was the era of WeWork, ping pong tables, and craft beer on tap.
Luckily, we all know fashion works in a cyclical manner, and what was once discarded will get picked up by some trendy teens or reimagined by a smart designer again. And while Miu Miu made the case for itty bitty mini skirts, sister brand Prada said modest pencil skirts are in again during their Spring/Summer 2025 runway show.
