My Full Post-Shower Beauty Routine

I made the mistake of forgoing my beauty routine. And no, it didn’t drastically ruin my skin or age me by ten years, but it did take a hit on my mental health. You see, the little time we schedule in our busy days for ourselves is actually vital for a healthy mindset. It’s this precious one-on-one time you create with yourself that keeps you sane. In a world where we constantly have to show up for others, we need daily reminders that you, too, deserve your own attention.

So I recently started doing an extensive post-shower routine, and it’s crazy how drastically it has improved my overall wellbeing. To be fair, this routine is quite long and I don’t always have the time to do the full shebang.
It’s reserved for extra stressful days or a slow Sunday afternoon. But when I do manage to go through every single step, I feel like a million bucks afterwards, and that feeling lasts for a few days following. I figured I’ll go through the entire routine with you in case you want to apply it in your own life. I cover everything from face to body and hair, and promise you’ll feel absolutely refreshed and ready to take on the world after.

Hair

My hair routine is pretty simple. After a good wash, I simply brush it out and part my hair in the middle. Then I take a few drops of my Gisou Hair Oil and rub it into the strands. I clip everything up into a bun and let it soak in while I get to my skincare routine. I come back to my hair at the final step in my post-shower routine, which is when I blow dry and style it. You’ll need the following products:

Face

Now onto the fun part. Before I apply any serums and creams, I do my NuFace treatment. For that, I apply a generous layer of microcurrent conductive gel and go through the ten(ish) minute process of sculpting my jawline. Once that’s done, I rinse off the excess gel and pat dry.

Next, I get a little ice cube and draw it across my skin. This is not only to cool my skin off after the NuFace treatment, but to tighten my pores. Then I grab one of my handy dandy face masks and place it on. While I let that sink into my skin, I typically move onto my body. But for the sake of keeping each section organized let’s pretend the marination process is done and we continue with the facial treatments. I wipe off any excess serum from the face mask and let my skin air dry a little. Once that’s done, I go over the face with a moisturizer. Lastly, I grab my favorite under eye cream to complete the routine.

Body

Recently I’ve started to gua-sha my upper body. I hold a lot of stress in my neck, chest, and arms, and found that massaging it really helps to depuff the area. I think it has something to do with my lymphatic drainage — either way it’s been incredible for both my physical and mental health. Since I just showered, I avoid using any oils and simply opt for a nourishing body moisturizer and a gua sha tool. Once I’m done with that, I lotion the rest of my body to complete my entire post-shower routine.

Any gua sha will do here, I sometimes even just use my hands to massage. I will say, though, that using the right tools lets you go deeper into the muscle tissue.

Since I use a lot of body lotion, I opt for an affordable yet effective one, like this Nivea moisturizer.
