I pretty much live in sweatpants and hoodies during the winter. I feel safe in the comfort it provides me, embracing me in its warmth. But the sun is staying up longer and coming down on us harder, which means it’s time to shed the fluff and opt for something more lightweight.
Before we get into the following summer pajamas, I think it’s important to state the importance of having a nightgown. And for us to get into the importance of nightgowns, let’s get into the importance of SLEEP. I always have to chuckle when people brag about how early they wake up, or how little sleep they need to function. I sit and think about how much more interesting this conversation could be if they did get their 8 hours of sleep. But a lot of people deal with the fact that they CAN’T fall asleep. While there are plenty of possible reasons for that, one of them is the fact that we do not establish clear boundaries between waking-you and sleeping-you.
Two easy ways to make that clear mental switch to night-time you is 1) having an evening routine and 2) changing into a proper pajama set. This sends the mind the proper signals that you are now entering your sleeping phase, and it will learn to shut down and get its much needed rest.
