The Best Beauty Brands That CATER TO ASIAN SKIN

I wanted to take a moment to appreciate Asian beauty brands. Way before skincare was so hyped here on the West Coast, I remember the advanced skincare and beauty culture thriving in Japan. We have been avoiding the sun with umbrellas and smearing sunscreen all over ourselves, way before the yassification of sunscreen, hence why we have been walking around looking 30 still at 50. Convenience stores dedicated just to beauty products and filled to the brim with face masks, anti-aging serums, and under-eye creams are all too popular there. Korea took it five steps further and brought their supreme beauty secrets to the international stage. But the one thing Western culture is so good at is marketing — they know how to sell. Brands compete ruthlessly for press coverage, influencer partnerships, and curating alluring IG pages, knowing exactly how to appear in front of the right audience. Does it speak to the actual quality of the product? Not so much. So, in a small attempt to even out the playing field, I wanted to highlight some of the best Asian-owned beauty brands on the market right now. You’ll see some OG brands as well as some new-comers. Either or, these are the beauty brands that cater to Asian skin.

Founded by influencer Erica Choi, Superegg focuses on clean beauty, offering moisturizers, hand creams, face masks, and elixirs for an egg-like smooth skin.

Orcé Cosmetics is an Asian and female-founded beauty brand, making foundations and serums for Asian skin tones.

The OG Japanese skincare… Shiseido. This is one of the oldest and most respected beauty brands in Japan, and it earned its prestige positioning through quality ingredients that simply work.

Another classic Japanese skincare brands is Bioré. We entrusted our pores in this company, and they never disappointed.

SK-II is a more high end Japanese skincare brand. The older generation heavily relies on their elixirs and creams for a youthful glow.

I personally heavily rely on Jumiso’s vitamin C serum for a glowy face. It just makes my dull skin come alive. The Korean skincare brand is now available to shop in the US as well.

Innisfree is like a reliable sister — always there for you when you need them the most. I recently tried their sunscreens, and they are fantastic.

Tower28 has a range of skincare and makeup products, designed with sensitive skin in mind. They fully operate as a clean, vegan, and cruelty-free company.

Haruharu is a Korean, vegan, and clean skincare line that harnesses the power of fermented ingredients like black rice or bamboo shoots to create optimal skin conditions.

Kufli is an up and coming makeup brand that caters to South Asian beauty. You’ll find bold colors and fun products that let you be as expressive as you desire.
