Yes, These Little Things Count AS SELF LOVE AS WELL

By now, we all know what a little TLC can do for the soul. I would go so far as to say that self-love is the answer to all your problems. Heartache, unhappiness at work, friendship woes, and even bad grades… it all comes down to the root that is self love. We’ve also been given ample tools to boost self love, whether that’s in the form of a dedicated skincare routine, keeping a journal, or going on a hot girl walk. In short, self love is any time that’s solely dedicated to catering to your needs, with compassion. It’s giving your mind some space to accept yourself wholly. Chuckling away any “imperfections” and finding yourself absolutely rad regardless. Sometimes it can feel like a serious uphill battle to get there, and the thought of joining a yoga studio, dedicating 20 minutes a day to meditate, or even looking at the mirror to do your makeup can feel too overwhelming. So, I’m here to remind you about some of the smaller things that count as self love as well. Things that don’t ask you to carve out more out of your tight schedule, but can be done on the go, all the time, so long as you consciously do it with love at the center.

1. Changing into a cute outfit, whether you’re going somewhere or not

2. Spending quality time with a pet

3. Taking selfies

4. Buying plants

5. Getting a haircut

6. Shopping

7. Texting a loved one how much they mean to you

8. Reading

9. Eating fruits and veggies

10. Pouring your heart out to someone/a journal

11. Staying silent for a moment

12. Saying no to events

13. Treating yourself to a nice cocktail

14. Abstaining from alcohol altogether (amazing how much control you begin to feel)

15. Cooking a full meal while blasting music

16. Cleaning

17. Lotioning your legs

18. Not responding to ill-intended people

19. Creating something (videos, notes, drawings, etc)

20. Looking at things that inspire you (art, movies, a pretty building)

21. Tending to your space

22. Buying flowers

23. Reminding yourself you’re one of a kind (and a bad bitch)
