Hotels vs. Airbnbs - Which Should YOU STAY AT?

Should you stay at a hotel or an Airbnb? That is the question. The answer fully depends on your likes, dislikes, and budget, and we’re gonna break down all the nitty gritty details for you. As a solo traveler, I’m a die-hard Airbnb fan. I don’t want to talk to anyone or put on a smile for passing strangers — I just want to be beautifully alone in my own company. But when I recently found myself staying at a hotel again first time (in a long time), I was struck with how nice this form of traveling actually is. Bedsheets are always clean, staff are superbly nice (and all-knowing), and the building feels grandiose and luxe. I see why people pay the big bucks for this, was my thought. But that’s just it, isn’t it. Hotels tend to be a good amount more expensive than Airbnb’s, and you don’t even get a kitchen. If you find yourself wondering whether to book an Airbnb or a Hotel, allow me to break down the pros and cons of both, so that you may get exactly what you want during your vacances.

Hotels

Hotels are fantastic for anyone looking to be pampered. Those who want to let go of the reigns for once and be treated to fresh bedsheets, hotel robes, and room service. You’re looking to be surrounded by likeminded people who are ready to explore, rather than being completely isolated. While many hotels come with a higher price tag, you are not just paying for the room but the service of the concierge. Anything you want, be it information, reservations, or fresh towels, you receive with a smile. You get to experience living in a grandiose building, that’s most likely going to be smack in the center of all the best sights.

Airbnbs

Airbnbs offer a little more variety. While you can typically expect the same four walls and two beds at a hotel, Airbnbs can come in the form of treehouses and even airplanes. You also get a little more space for less $$. Since you are essentially just living in someone else’s home, you get a kitchen and a backyard with your reservation. If you are traveling to somewhere a little more remote, you can get spaces in secluded areas, rather than being in the city center. Airbnb’s offer much more privacy as well, as you are not sharing the building with a thousand other guests. Fully relax as you feel the peace and quiet around you.
