I’ll be honest, I was never one to wear tights. When I was a kid, my mother would put me into these mesh pants and within a few hours, I’d trip, bounce, glide, and create a mural of holes in them.
Understandably, she stopped buying them for me.
Fast forward to the present, I was recently gifted a pair of black tights and oh my, are these sturdy. I realized they’re exactly what I needed when I wanted to add just a little flare to an outfit. Adding tights to a regular black skort + tank combo turns it into something to talk about. Slip into some leather loafers and a blazer and bam, you’ve got yourself a ‘fit.
But most importantly, they’re actually a vital piece of clothing to get you through that awkward transitional weather. Skirts in the fall? Sometimes! But skirts + tights? Absolutely yes. You can get away with wearing oversized sweaters as dresses if you jazz it up with some tights underneath. And when you opt for pieces with a little design on them, say polka dots or stripes, you can really open up a world of outfit options.
