You may recall the other day where I went on a bit of a rant about “hustle culture”. Well, sometimes going on an adventure filled trip is thrilling, but exhausting. You know what this summer should be about instead? Soft girl vacations. The lot of us are probably eager to get back onto trains, plains, and long car rides. But don’t you forget, your body just spent a looooong chunk of time staying in one destination. And in this time, you’ve grown, your soul has expanded, and you’ve made peace with the quiet lifestyle. You’re a whole new person for the love of nature! You’ve meditated, adapted, survived and thrived. You’re a peace baby now. So the next vacation you go to might be a solo-scape, or a peaceful retreat with just your lover, instead of a grand adventure to Las Vegas. We over here are embracing the soft-girl-vacations. The one where you get to go at your own pace, one with minimal challenges, and an easy lifestyle. I’m talking about simple strolls to the bakery rather than scootering through the streets of Bangkok (although there’s ABSOLUTELY a time and place for that). Below, we’ve collected the top travel destinations for a relaxed, soft girl vacance. We hope you enjoy!

  1. Gothenburg, Sweden

Or any city in Sweden, for that matter. You may have noticed that there’s an unusually high number of influencer girls on Instagram that come from Sweden. And each of their picture perfect posts reflect a gentle lifestyle compromised of picnics in fields of daisies. Sweden is filled with breathtaking nature, and the people embrace a slow, soulful lifestyle that we can all take a little lesson from.

2. Bay of Kotor, Montenegro

Everyone loves to talk about the Amalfi coast or the breathtaking views in Santorini. But ladies, what about Montenegro? What about Croatia? Two countries which in my opinion, have equally if not more breathtaking destinations with a third of the tourists. Relax into the sun at Bay of Kotor, Montenegro during your next vacation.

3. Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Mexico never fails to be a good retreat. But depending on which city you go to, your experience can vary drastically. While Tulum is great for the party goers, Playa del Carmen (only an hour drive north) has more of a toned down version of fun (but fear not, fun will definitely be had here).

4. Oslo, Norway

Oslo’s another one of those cities that’s beautiful on its own, but if you wanted to be immersed in nature it’s a simply train ride away. Norway boasts some of the most mind-boggling nature-scapes on earth.

5. Vienna, Austria

Vienna is one of those European cities you visit once you’ve checked off all the other major European cities. But when you go, you realize it’s got such a little charm to it that gets missed in the other cities. I myself am home to Vienna, and it simply never fails to make me feel wholesome whenever I go back.

6. Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston, South Carolina appeals to me for some reason. I’ve never been, but as a self-proclaimed tree-whore, I’m dying to see this famous alley pictured here to my left. Aside from this breath taking angel oak, Charleston is rich with history, right by the ocean, and a popular destination for weddings. I hope to see the charms of this city myself one day.

7. Porto, Portugal

Yes, I did mention Porto in my “Destinations that Inspire Self-Love” story, and the same reasons apply to the soft girl vacation. Porto has everything you want in a foreign retreat - views, foods, great weather, and more. But it’s nice and small, sparing you from feeling too overwhelmed or over-excited. Porto fills you with a calm warmth unlike any other place I’ve ever visited.

8. Copenhagen, Denmark

Oh sweet summer in the city of coffee and carefreeness. The little girl in me had always wished she could have existed as a teen in Copenhagen, but alas a New York girl she remained. But seriously, if you just want to exist quietly and soak in a relaxed lifestyle of endless coffee shops and beautiful fashion, then you need to go to Copenhagen.

9. Hudson, New York

I truly believe there’s no place like New York in the summer. And I don’t just mean New York City, I include upstate New York. You can retreat into cities like Hudson and enjoy a beautiful little escape. And while this may sound shocking to some, I actually believe the vegetation and trees in New York are some of the most beautiful (and I’ve hiked trails in Bali, New Zealand, and more!).
